Mexico into Guatemala

La Mesilla is a easy crossing. The Highway 1 crossing was difficult due to delays and rip offs.

We went though Tepichula, which blows because it's a half hour from the actual border, and you need to find the Banjercito to cancel your vehicle permit before you get to the border.  There's no easy way to find it either, you really need to go to the border for directions, then keep your freakin eyes peeled because it's very hard to see the sign for the place and no locals have any idea it's there.  Also the border is extremely busy with commercial traffic, there's a strange ediquette to getting in line that has to do with pushing, shoving, and a fine line between telling the officer to help you and kissing his ass.  I don't recommend this crossing.  Plus, on the Guatemala side they gave us our permit stickers, but forgot to give us the paperwork, which took another four hours of our lives away when leaving Guatemala.

"The main thing is to avoid the Talisman Bridge crossing south of Tapachula, Mexico. There you’ll be harangued by a mass of people with fake government ID’s"

That place is consistent if nothing else...
